Immersion first
We believe reading is not something you do after studying. Reading is the study. Real stories give learners repeated contact with vocabulary, grammar, and rhythm in a form that feels alive.

Readnihongo is built around immersion, practice, and accessibility. We believe everyone should be able to read, and that progress comes from reading often, getting support quickly, and returning to what you learn in context.
The right support should make reading more possible, not more complicated. That is the standard we want every part of Readnihongo to meet.
Immersion
Learn through real reading
Practice
Reinforce what you read
Access
Support when you need it
Mission
Too many learners spend more time managing tools, looking things up, and feeling stuck than they spend actually reading. We want to lower that barrier and make reading feel welcoming, practical, and sustainable.
We believe reading is not something you do after studying. Reading is the study. Real stories give learners repeated contact with vocabulary, grammar, and rhythm in a form that feels alive.
Progress comes from small, steady loops. Read a little, check what you need, and come back tomorrow. We would rather help you build consistency than overwhelm you with too much at once.
We want everyone to be able to read. That means clear structure, helpful support, approachable pacing, and a calmer interface that makes Japanese feel more open to more people.
Method
Readnihongo is designed to help learners stay inside the language as much as possible while still giving them the support needed to keep moving.
Step 1
Start with compact stories designed to feel readable, interesting, and worth finishing. Context makes new vocabulary and grammar easier to understand and remember.
Step 2
Use fast word support, furigana when you need it, and a cleaner reading interface that helps you stay focused on the story instead of jumping between tools.
Step 3
Follow your reading with focused lessons and saved vocabulary so what you just saw in context has a better chance of sticking the next time you meet it.
Accessibility
Accessibility at Readnihongo is not an afterthought. It shapes how we write, design, and build. We want the experience to feel approachable for learners who need more support, and still rewarding for learners who are ready to push further.
People
Readnihongo is a collaboration between storytelling and thoughtful web design.
We are proud to be joined by best-selling author Haruki Yamamoto, who helps shape the stories at the heart of Readnihongo. His involvement helps us aim for stories that feel engaging, natural, and genuinely worth reading.
The reading experience itself is crafted by a talented web team who turn language-learning stories into something polished, usable, and inviting. Their work helps transform good content into a better way to learn.
Read a story, tap a few words, follow it with a lesson, and keep going. That simple loop is the center of the product and the reason we built it.
