Formal Reason and Purpose with ため
Master ため as an N3 connector for formal purpose and formal reason in notices, essays, and written explanation.
Core meaning
ため can express either purpose (“for the sake of … / in order to …”) or reason (“because of …”). At N3, it is especially important because it appears often in formal written Japanese.
健康のために、毎日少し歩いている。
I walk a little every day for the sake of my health.
ために marks a purpose or benefit here.
大雨のため、イベントは延期された。
Because of heavy rain, the event was postponed.
This ため gives a formal reason in a notice-like sentence.
