Noun + にとって means 'for' or 'from the viewpoint of.' It does not mean physical benefit only. It marks the person or group whose perspective matters.

Evaluation and Importance
〜にとって often appears with words such as 大切だ, 必要だ, 難しい, 重要だ, and 問題だ. It helps show for whom the evaluation is true.

子どもにとって安全な環境が必要だ。
A safe environment is necessary for children.
The phrase shows whose needs define the judgment.

Reading Use
In opinion pieces, にとって is a key signal for perspective. When you see it, ask: for whom is this good, difficult, or meaningful? This prevents vague translation.
Target signal
観光客にとって便利でも、地域の住民には負担になることがある。
It may be convenient for tourists, but it can become a burden for local residents.
The sentence contrasts two viewpoints.
