Describing Places and Objects
Describe places and objects clearly by combining nouns with い-adjectives and な-adjectives.
Adjectives before nouns
In Japanese, adjectives come before the noun they describe. い-adjectives appear directly before the noun, while な-adjectives take な before the noun.
大きい白い犬がいます。
There is a big white dog.
Two い-adjectives can both appear before the noun.
静かな図書館です。
It is a quiet library.
A な-adjective needs な before the noun.
きれいな公園です。
It is a beautiful park.
You can combine an adjective and a place noun in one short phrase.
