Haru’s family goes to the park on a spring morning.

Many cherry trees in the park are already in bloom.

They choose an open place under one tree.

Haru unfolds a large blue picnic sheet.

A strong wind lifts one side of the sheet.

Haru grabs it before it flies as far as the path.

His little sister holds the opposite corner with both hands.

Their mother places a water bottle on one corner.

Haru puts bags on the other two corners.

At last, the blue sheet stays flat.

The family sits down together on the sheet.

Pink petals begin to fall in the wind.

One petal lands in his sister’s hair.

Haru takes it off and shows it to her, and she laughs.

They take a family picture under the tree.

The family eats rice balls and fruit.

In the afternoon, the wind becomes softer.

Haru watches petals move across the blue sheet.

“The wind made it even prettier here,” Haru says.

The family folds the sheet and walks home slowly.
